Cake Pop Fun!

Image
These were fun - but took SO LONG to make. Lots of steps, and I’m certainly not a patient person. I am glad I made them, but I likely won’t do it again. Haha  I started with a homemade cake - just a simple vanilla cake recipe with these ingredients.  The confectioners sugar was for the frosting.  I blended the cake ingredients together and baked it.  Conor helped with the frosting! This one of their favorite things to help me with.  I then wrapped an empty box and stabbed the sticks in it - hoping it would help hold them upright while they were drying. Spoiler alert: It didn’t really help. They kept falling and it was miserable.  Cake is done! I let it cool and then crumbled it up. I also made vanilla pudding - thinking I would add it to the cake crumbles to make the balls, but I opted to add frosting instead. So the boys ate the pudding.  Crumbled cake, pudding (didn’t use it), ice cream scoop, different colored frosting, sprinkles, and gold dust!...

Cake Bakin' and Leaf Rakin'

Image
Tis season to rake  all  those leaves that have been piling up outside. I managed to snag a few quick pics while Jim and his brother, Joe were outside raking the leaves with the boys over the weekend. It was pretty crisp out there, but they had a blast. Cal - Caden - Conor - Daddy and Caden with their matching chainsaws - Cal and I were playing peek-a-boo...his fav! Ha :) Also, tis the season to warm up those ovens and bake some sweets, right?  I've baked a few pies and cakes over the last few weeks, and I am still trying to think of something fun to bring down the Cape for Thanksgiving on Thursday. I skipped the frosting part because you know, having three toddlers kind of hinders my cake-baking time, so I used a package from the store.  I may re-do this cake recipe and add some crushed Oreo cookies to the top this time! It was supposed to be two tiers, but the larger one collapsed...so me, Conor and Caden ate ...

Fall Festivities Continue - Apple Picking and Photoshoots

Image
I wanted to write about our annual apple picking fun at Bolton Springs Farm in Bolton. They have a very informative website  specific to the "Pick Your Own" crops and schedule - we were easily able to determine whether or not it was too late in the season to go apple picking. I also called and they said they have different orchards, several of which had plenty of apples left. So off we went!! Bright and early Sunday morning. We visited this same orchard last year with our out of town friends, John and Erin. We reminisced with them a week ago while we were in LA about our apple picking adventure. Conor: Caden: Cal kept hitting me in the face with his apple - and he must've eaten about 12 of them today. He loved them. I think they were really crisp and sweet, plus he is getting a few new teeth - so it felt good! It was a really fun time. It was also wayyyy hotter than I expected - what is with this warm ...
