My First FRIENDSGIVING!

Image
We hosted our first Friendsgiving with some of our best friends Julie and Katie and their families and it was a huge success.  We opted for prime rib and a bunch of decadent sides like broccoli casserole, creamed spinach, carrots, mashed potatoes, and even some meatballs with sauce. It was DELICIOUS. Here's a quick recap of the night. We started off opening utensils box from our WEDDING.  I dont think we have ever used these waterford utensils, but figured why not - right? What are we saving them for... Here we go! This is what it looked like when I took it out of the packaging this AM.  Salt first, and let it sit in the fridge, and then add more seasoning just prior to cooking. I salted the prime rib early, early this morning and then made a "marinade" around noon today.  I blended a white onion, fresh rosemary and a few pieces of garlic with EVOO in the nutribullet.  Then I spread it on the meat, bone side down. In my last post I talked about wanting to write another "current favs" lists or a post similar to this one I wrote in 201 3. It's funny because in 2013, I wrote "Go Sox" because they were in the World Series then! It must be something about this time of year...woooo! With that reminder, I wanted to keep you all posted on what I am into these days. 1. What I'm Watching:  House of Cards, A Million Little Things (thanks Mack) and ALL the Pats games. We just hosted a few friends over yesterday because they finally had an afternoon game... 2. What I'm Listening To:  I just finished a podcast called " Missing Alissa " by Ottavia Zappala.I am also listening to the Conspiracy Theories podcast, which is nice because it's a bunch of different stories and you don't really need to keep up with it. Also, Chrissy suggested "A Killing on the Cape" and it was really good. Other blogs/podcasts of interest that are on my "...

How Bout Them PATRIOTS?!

What a great day yesterday! My Dad and I brought Conor, Caden, and Zeta to some woods in Waltham and met my Aunt Julie and her two dogs. We brought the wagon in case the boys didn't want to walk anymore. It was right before nap time, so I thought they would be real tired. But they did pretty well! It was nice to enjoy some outdoor time and fresh air - especially with all these sicknesses going on. Then the Patriots flipping won the superbowl!!! Like, what!? Amazing game. I gave Cal this ridiculous fohawk...I loved it. HA. Phelan family photo. This morning we all woke up - and I was hoping that I didn't dream that they won last night. Still in disbelief!! All for now! Enjoy that excitement everyone....here come the duck boats!! xo, Shaz
