Read Across America Week!

Image
What a fun week in first grade!!! This week focused on lots of ‘reading’ themes for “Read Across America Week” On Monday, the boys brought their favorite book to school (virtually).  They each brought a different book from Elephant and Piggie series. On Tuesday, it was Culture day. We read a few book based on our culture, and other things that make us “us”. For example, I read “Good Morning Cape Cod” which talks about US history and Plymouth Rock. On Wednesday, they dressed up as their favorite book character. And today they dressed as 100 year old versions of themselves for the 100th day of school! Look at my little old men! We also did haircuts mid week!  On Wednesday, Conor and Caden dressed as “Harold” from Harold and the Purple Crayon; Auntie Chrissys favorite book. Two highlights with my other two favorite guys this week: “Hanging” with Papa - yes, Conor is in the red haha.  Reading with Dad - keeping the theme of the week alive.  Have a great weekend! xo, Shaz...

Speech Progress and EI Update!

The boys will be 3 in two months...wow. That means they age out of early intervention. When a child turns 3, they no longer qualify for (free) services through EI. That basically means it's on to the next round of evaluations and stages. We discussed the twins, their current situation, and the progress they each have made through their IFSPs. We talked about different options and the amount of services they receive each week (one day each of speech - one at school, and one at home - alternating). We talked about potential dates when the boys could come in and be evaluated for services and the consent forms were mailed to us. That's where we are at right now. All of this reminded me of going to group classes at EI over the fall and winter months - when I was on maternity leave with Cal. It feels ...

The boys second birthday is in just a few days...I can't believe it! When they turned one, it didn't hit me that hard at all - but there is something about their second birthday that is making me feel like they are really getting older. Maybe it's because they are really growing, interacting, talking, learning, and are FUN right now. I've seen huge growth even since January - they are doing so great. They listen better, and understand everything I'm saying. It makes it easier when I ask them "where are your shoes?!" And they come running over to me with them. WOW! Seriously, it's such a help. 0-6 Month Favs: First beach trip... First trip to the National Mall.. First Cape Cod trip... First of many, many, many walks together... First blaming each other moment... First Patriots game (on the TV...)... First wedding! First Red Sox gear. First hug! First modeling shoot with Miss Jackie! First ties...  First SNOW!
