Speech Progress and EI Update!

Image
The boys will be 3 in two months...wow. That means they age out of early intervention. When a child turns 3, they no longer qualify for (free) services through EI. That basically means it's on to the next round of evaluations and stages. We already began the process called "the transition out of EI" by having a few meetings with our speech language pathologist and a representative from Woburn Public Schools. We discussed the twins, their current situation, and the progress they each have made through their IFSPs. We talked about different options and the amount of services they receive each week (one day each of speech - one at school, and one at home - alternating). We talked about potential dates when the boys could come in and be evaluated for services and the consent forms were mailed to us. That's where we are at right now. All of this reminded me of going to group classes at EI over the fall and winter months - when I was on maternity leave with Cal. It feels ...

Christmas Happenings with C, C, and C!

Image
I can't believe Christmas is in less than two weeks. I had my work Christmas party for families and their children this weekend...here's our family picture with Santa. Thanks, Kristin!! I love it. :) Conor and Caden were scoping out all the presents from Santa! I think one of them even dove into the sea of presents..... "Criss Cross, applesauce"... Here's Alex and Cal! Huge shout out to both Alex and Kristin for helping out so much with all three boys during the party. Jim and I were able to enjoy ourselves thanks to you two! And thank you to Hope for putting the whole party together. What a fun experience for the kids. Conor and Caden loved seeing Santa (even though they didn't show it) and they love their new presents. :) The boys were sleeping in the same bed the other night - and I thought it was the cutest thing ever. They usually either sleep in their own beds or sometimes switch beds (which confuses me terribly in the middle of...

Jim Comes Home Tonight!!

Image
For the past few days, I have been trying to picture how life will be when I have all three boys home with me. In a couple weeks, we are pulling Conor and Caden out of daycare to stay home with me and Cal - mainly because I am going on leave without pay. Frankly, we can't afford two daycare payments if I am not getting paid. Therefore, I will have all the boys home with me for a few months until I go back to work. At that point, Conor and Caden will start preschool...and Cal will go to the daycare that C and C are at now. Timing is all still up in the air - but that's our tentative plan. Anyway, I have been trying to come up with craft projects, places to take the kids, and ideas to keep them busy and entertained this fall. I found a few crafts on pinterest, and my mom and I took them to the library the other day after we picked them up from daycare. They loved the magnets and blocks and books there. Here are some pics from the library. Another idea I...

Memories in Cape Cod - Part 2

Image
We had a great first day in the Cape - most of them good moments. There are always the tantrum-throwing, toddler takeover moments where you want to crawl under a rock (times two) but thankfully the boys tend to take turns for the most part. Sometimes Conor is GREAT and Caden is throwing a fit for no reason, and sometimes they switch and Caden is fun and happy and Conor is screaming for no apparent reason. I will also say that their lack of speech is frustrating at times, because they cannot easily tell me what is wrong or what they need. The thing is, they are old enough to know what they need or want, so the fact that they can't express it bothers them (and in turn, it bothers me). SO we try to keep busy, see new things, and spend loads of time outside exploring. As I may have mentioned in our day one post, we took several strolls downtown Hyannis and even visited the Hyannis Public Library on Main Street - the children's room. To say the boys loved it would be an underst...
